To Render a Voice that is true...

To render

a voice true

the one

that really

speaks

of

and

for

you

- impossible?

Mayhaps -

mayhaps not?

Thank Hardy for "Mayhaps"

It's an indelible term for me (just like 'commune', Pope & dope, etc.,) ever since 1978 when a certain Jesuit kept screaming at me (full of snot!): "How Master 'X' can you not KNOW the meaning of 'mayhaps' --- 'mayhaps' sir you have yet to read your Hardy???"

At which point, at 14 (testosterone driven) and ignorant - I proceeded to read every published Hardy novel & poem then available in Labrador.

In three weeks I was done. Yes, I'd had to greet each morn's sun - but I was done. Odd. 'mayhaps' sticks with me still!

How odd?

Mayhaps (or methinks) a lesson was learned that day. By a raving jesuit, or a testosterone-loaded boy?
