Oh, Sickly Child

Oh, Sickly Child could not you see
The bucket I placed by my knee

Oh, Sickly Child as I held your head
Did you have to turn it towards your bed

That first upchuck was big - God knows -
Hitting your pillows, blankets
and then your toes

But Sickly Child did you have to then
Turn back to me and do it again?

Oh, Sickly Child could you not see the bucket by my knee?

Merciful Sleep

Merciful sleep, where are you?
Busy again?
I suppose.
Merciful sleep, come to me, before I must repose?

Now we both know you`ve been untrue,
Bedding others and leaving me alone.
Merciful sleep, I need a rest that is deep
Please call and tell me you'll be here soon.

Merciful sleep, come tuck me in, ...

I've been waiting my whole life!

Whipping Wind-Chill, I Welcome Thee!

Whipping wind-chill I welcome thee?
Ball-numbing cold is all for me.

Biting bastard, freeze my cheek,
Frozen snot, I will leak.
Watery eyes, frozen now,
No big deal, ahead I plow.

Don't mind you much,
You're not so tough,
Least you're not sucking blood & stuff.

Whipping wind-chill I embrace.
Better than a 'squito on my face.

Come summer, when bugs are out,
I'll long for thee
I'll miss your frigid apogee.

Whipping wind-chill thanks a lot,
I do so much like licking my frozen snot!

My Beauty

Morning to moonlight you rule my mind’s eye…

Morning to moonlight you are with me…

Morning to moonlight and all points in between,

You are what I sense, you are what dream

Sleepless eve,

Restless night,

Raining morn’

Or snowy white

I want you always,

Night, morning & noon.

Not your body,

Not your sex,

Just your love & whatever you bless me with next.

My soft sacred soul, no words will do…

I can only hope it is enough

That I love you.

Transit Driver Must You be So Mean?

Transit driver must you be so mean?
I didn't know an extra nickle is now routine.

Know your pissed about all this snow.
It's now $2.30?
Sorry, didn't know.
No reason to be snarky;
Here's a dime
By the way...
Why are you never on time?

Gimli New Years Eve

A different pace
In this different place
Gimli, Manitoba.

Marriage of lake and land
Of woods and sand
History's on display

Abandoned farms mixed with plush abodes
A place where new buildings meet the old

Not quite north,
Not really urban
It's not all rural
But definitely not suburban

A bit surreal
There's a different feel
At the Viking on this night

Surrounded by kin
In-laws all, some short, some tall
They're glad we made it in

"Happy New Year!' they say
Without reserve and
Without delay
"Glad you're here to tonight"

A pleasant eve
A good reprieve
Thank you, Gimli for this night.
